Kim Munson Artist
This is a page all about Kim Munson's art. She is a bay area artist from San Jose, CA. She is an alumni of Santa Clara University (SCU), located in Santa Clara, CA, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Studio Art. While pursuing her undergraduate degree in Studio Art she concentrated on sculpture and black and white film based photography. She was awarded grand prize for her sculpture in a competition, and was then awarded a commission for her design to be a permanent feature on the SCU campus. Her "Books" sculpture was made into a one ton, six foot tall, and six foot wide, bronze, that is mounted on a two foot marble base and permanently resides in the entrance foyer just outside the new SCU library, officially named The Harrington Learning Center, Sobrato Learning Commons, and Orradre Library. The sculpture was generously donated by the Blair Family.
Currently, Kim Munson works with printmaking and is exploring monotypes, intaglio, and mixed media printing methods. She is exploring animal behavior and sociology, ethology. She is particularly interested in the social cultures of crows and ravens and other corvids. Animals, nature, ecology, conservation, and human relationships to these, are all subjects she seeks to explore.
Kim is an active member of the MPC Printmakers, a fine art print club based in Monterey, CA.
